Types of Styli

itpstyli offers styli in a variety of types and shapes in order to assist you in completing your measurements in the most efficient and successful manner possible. Some aspects of your application are dependent upon the materials, however, the type is equally as important.

itpstyli not only offers an extensive range of standard styli, but also offers the Design Your Own styli option where you can create a custom stylus that fits your specific application.

Straight Styli

The most commonly used styli is the straight stem. It is used when direct contact is made with the measuring surface.

Star Styli

Multi-styli configuration with fixed styli. This allows you to measure in different positions without changing the probe. Used when direct contact is made with the measuring surface.

Disc Styli

These are available attached to styli or on their own. These are made in steel, ceramic, or ruby. Used for measuring undercuts, stepped bores, and grooves within bores. The discs with half-balls on either side are used to measure the Z direction, for example, the width of a groove.

Cylinder Styli

Instead of having a sphere at the end, this is a rounded cylinder. This is used when a ball styli cannot make good contact.

Spherical Styli

Hemispherical styli provide greater measuring surfaces with low weight. They are ideal for deep features and bores. The large area is better for rough surfaces.

itpstyli not only offers an extensive range of standard styli, but also offers the Design Your Own styli option where you can create a custom stylus that fits your specific application.
